About
Joe found his love for make-up later than some, having cycled through ambitions of being a Michelin starred chef (he loves cooking too much to make it his career), a famous performer of stage and screen (still a work-in-progress), and a successful restaurateur. He was on his way to realising this final ambition when he stumbled upon a little show from across the pond called RuPaul’s Drag Race, from there he delved into the world of drag and emerged as a budding make-up artist.
Inspired by the weird, fashionable, androgynous elements of the drag world, Joe has relished in a new love of all things style and expression, allowing himself to explore his creativity through the opportunities presented to him by his University, University College Birmingham, from where he graduated in September 2021 with a 1:1 in BA(Hons) Specialist Hair and Media Make-up.
Joe has worked as a make-up artist for the Face of the World UK and Northern Ireland Pageant in 2018 and the Miss Earth UK pageant in 2019 where his model was crowned Miss Teen Earth, as well as winning the Hair and Make-up award. He has also worked on a world-building film for innovative virtual-reality escape room concept In A Box 3, productions at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham, and assisted in photo-shoots for local brands. Never wanting to box himself in too much, he seeks to gain a wealth of knowledge in the many areas open to make-up artists.
